Additional Information
WHAT IT IS
- The grease trap system is a system designed to seperate oil/grease, solid waste material and water after utensils are washed.
- The aim is to prevent drains and soak pits from getting coated with grease and getting clogged which leads to overflow.
HOW IT WORKS
- The water from the sinks first passes through a filter/strainer that strains out the solids.
- These solids are to be emptied into a composting bin or into the dustbin for disposal.
- The water, grease and detergent flow into the grease traps which seperates the water on the "oil floats principle". The water is allowed to flow into the drain/soak pit while the floating oil is trapped inside
- At regular intervals the floating oil can be drained into a container. This way the oil is seperated and prevented from getting to the drain/soak pit, thus increasing the life of the soak pit and preventing the drains from getting clogged.
